HOW IT WORKS

How to create a future-self video, step by step

A future-self video is an AI-created scene of you in a future you want to work towards. Become Your Future makes yours from a guided WhatsApp conversation and one photo, then pairs it with personal audio. Here is how to create it and use it for daily rehearsal.

Five steps to your personalised video

The whole experience happens in WhatsApp and takes five steps: you talk through your vision, upload a photo, and our AI builds photorealistic episodes of your future self. You never touch a prompt, an editor, or a new platform.

1

Start your guided WhatsApp vision session

Open WhatsApp and begin a guided conversation that pulls your future into focus. You speak naturally, the session asks the right questions, and vague wanting turns into a precise picture of the person you are becoming. No app to install, no account to build.

2

Describe your vision across the areas of life that matter

Health, relationships, wealth, work, purpose: you choose the areas that matter and describe what living them fully looks like. The session captures the specific scenes, feelings, and details that make your future recognizably yours, not a generic highlight reel.

3

Upload a photo

Send one clear photo of yourself in the same WhatsApp chat. This is what separates Become Your Future from every vision board you have tried: the person in the future scenes is you, with your face, not a stock model you have to mentally translate.

4

Our AI crafts your cinematic future-self episodes

Our AI combines your vision and your photo into short photorealistic movie episodes of you already living that future. Each episode is built around your face, your story, and your life, rendered with cinematic detail.

5

Watch your First Glimpse and begin the daily practice

Your First Glimpse is normally ready in WhatsApp the next morning after you confirm your vision and share your photo. Because each one is made personally, next-morning delivery is not guaranteed. You can then return to the movie and personal audio as a daily rehearsal.

Future-self video or vision board: which format fits?

A vision board video puts goal-related images or clips into a sequence. A personalised future-self video goes further in one specific way: it places your likeness inside a scene based on your own description. Choose the format you will actually return to.

A still vision board

Collect photos, words and symbols on paper or in a digital collage. This suits you if you want several goals visible together and enjoy choosing or arranging the images.

A DIY vision board video

Choose images or clips, arrange them in a video editor, and add audio if you want it. This suits you if you want control over the footage, timing and soundtrack.

A personalised future-self movie

Describe your vision and share a photo. Become Your Future creates the scene and personal audio for you. This suits you if you want to see yourself in the movie without writing AI prompts or learning an editor.

See example future-self movies to judge the format for yourself. Each example illustrates a possible scene; your movie is built around your own vision.

How to use your video for daily rehearsal

Give the movie a practical job. Rehearse how you want to respond in one situation, then connect it to something you can do today. This is a suggested routine, not a tested protocol.

1

Choose an ordinary moment

Make the scene specific: opening a difficult conversation calmly, giving a presentation, or putting your phone down to listen. Describe what you are doing, not only what you own.

2

Watch, listen and notice

Watch your movie and listen to the personal audio. Notice the response you want to practise: what you say, where you put your attention, and how you handle a difficult moment.

3

Write down one action

For example: “Before tomorrow’s meeting, I will write my opening sentence and practise saying it aloud.” Keep the action small enough to carry out, then reflect on what happened.

What does research say about future-self visualization?

Research on mental simulation and connection to a future self informs the idea of rehearsal. The studies below did not test Become Your Future or establish that watching our videos produces the same results.

Rehearsing the process

Pham and Taylor (1999)compared students imagining study habits with students imagining a desired exam result. Process simulation improved studying and grades, with planning and reduced anxiety helping explain the effect. This supports rehearsing the steps toward a goal, rather than treating an image of success as sufficient.

Making a future self more concrete

Hershfield and colleagues (2011)found that exposure to age-progressed images of participants was associated with greater allocations to savings in their experiments. This was research about future-self imagery and financial choices, not evidence that a personalised movie changes every area of life.

What that means for your practice

Our practical suggestion is to use the video as a cue for rehearsal and action. You choose the situation, practise how you want to show up, and try it in real life. A movie does not predict your future or guarantee an outcome.

Common questions about the experience

What do I need to get started with Become Your Future?

You need WhatsApp and one clear photo of yourself. The entire experience runs inside a WhatsApp conversation: the guided vision session, the photo upload, and the delivery of your cinematic future-self episodes. There is no app to download and no platform to learn.

What is the First Glimpse?

The First Glimpse is the $27 entry experience: your guided vision session starts instantly after purchase, and your first cinematic future-self movie and personal audio are normally ready in WhatsApp the next morning after you confirm your vision and share your photo. Because each one is made personally, next-morning delivery is not guaranteed.

How is this different from a vision board or affirmations?

A vision board collects images and words that represent your goals. Become Your Future turns your description and photo into a moving scene starring you, with personal audio from your point of view. The video supplies imagery you can replay; you still choose what to practise and which actions to take.

Do I need to be good at visualization for this to work?

No. You can describe a future moment in ordinary words. The video supplies the visual scene, so you do not have to create a vivid picture in your head. Use the movie and audio to notice the thoughts, feelings and choices you want to rehearse.
